DistributionA single collection known: Haywood County, dry successional roadbank within housing development, 2017, M. Brock 1732 (APSC). Reported by Small (1933) as escaping from gardens in western NC.

Native of Eurasia; in N.A. -- N.B. to Ont., south to NC and MN; also UT; B.C. to OR.

PhenologyFlowering June.
IdentificationThe plants grow about 2 feet tall from several slender basal leaves. The stem leaves are similar, stalkless, eventually becoming mere bracts beneath flowers. The rather large corollas are blue to lavender, cup-shaped, arranged along a long terminal raceme. Most flowers face horizontally.
